Halloween 2008

Zane was a cute LITTLE MONKEY!!

Daddy was making Monkey noises and Zane thought it was funny.

Zane wanted the camera.. look at his Jack-o-lantern teeth.

I may have gone a little overboard on the pic sharing, but Zane had a ton of fun this Halloween. So, I thought I would let ya all check it out. We didn't trick or treat this year; he is still a little young. We did however walk around the neighborhood and look at all the different costumes and houses that were decorated. He loves to people watch and totally got a kick out of it. I thought he might be frightened of the scary costumes but he just stared. Some of the costumes just made him laugh. Then he sat out in the front yard helping us pass out candy to all the other kids; he was fun!! Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!!

7 months

These are Zane's 7 month photos. He is so Fun. Jaime and I tried to give him a little mohawk. His hair is still too fine, but it was a good laugh.
I really hold Zane's 7 mo. birthday close to my heart because that is the day that Zane said Ma ma for the first time. We were so sure it was going to be Da da. I got lucky; Ma ma came first. Although I didn't get to hear it. I was still so proud.
I was outside cleaning up the backyard and Jaime was in watching Zane, and I guess Zane was looking at me outside through the arcadia door. Jaime said he banged on the door and yelled Ma ma. Jaime was so excited (and let's be honest a little disappointed at the same time) that he hollered at me to come and listen. We tried to get Zane to say it again, but all he would do was smile at me.
It wasn't until 2 days later that he let me hear it with my own ears. Da da came like 5 days later. And now that is all he says especially when he is happy. I only hear Ma ma is he is crying. But I will take what I can get. hehe!!

1st swimming pool experience

These are pics from Zane's first time in a real swimming pool. He LOVES the bath and playing in any type of water. At first he was a little unsure and just wanted Mommy to stay right next to him and hold him. I think it was a little weird for him not to have his feet touching the bottom of something. After a while he got used to it and really enjoyed himself.

He almost had too much fun, because afterward he was knocked out and we couldn't even wake him up if we wanted to. I wish nap time was always that easy! hee hee

6 months/ 1/2 birthday!!!

Zane is gettiing so big now. He is pulling himself up on things. He really loves to explore.

This is one of my favorite photos of Zane in his Daddy's hat. He love putting on his Grandpa's and Dad's hats. He just smiles like, "Look at me I am one of the big boys!"

Birthday Early

OK!! so it has been FOREVER since I posted and I was waiting for Jaime to do a post about his first Father's day before I posted anything else, but life has thrown a lot of ups and downs and we are just getting really behind. So I am going to just post all that I have so far and then start fresh. Hope you enjoy the catch up!! ;-)

My Birthday treat came a little early this year. Zane gave his Mommy a special little gift. My birthday was June 27th and on June 24th Zane got up on his knees on his own started to crawl. Although he only made about one hand and knee forward and then fell flat..... he tried!!! It was so great. Mommy was so proud. It is amazing how much joy your children can bring you!!

I look like my Daddy!!

We went back to California for Father's Day, and I was given a wonderful gift. Ever since Zane was born people constantly tell me how much he looks like his Daddy. I would have agreed. Yet it was undeniable evident when I saw Jaime's baby photos. I was blessed to get to make some copies for myself. Thought I would share.

Jaime is on the left and on the right is baby Zane! This picture of Jaime was taken roughly 2 days after birth. Zane is one week old in his photo.

Jaime is again on the left and Zane on the right. Jaime is about 5 to 6 months in this photo. Zane is 5 1/2 months old.

I definitely think that they look a lot a like, but I will let you all be the judge. I know lots of people have been asking me if I have baby pics of Jaime. So finally the long awaited photos I promised.

5 months and growing!!

It has been a while, so I am going to try and catch up in the next few days. Zane turned 5 months old on June 5th. He is growing so much!!

I took these pictures on his 5 month birthday. ;) Zane loves his little walker. He is learning how to maneuver it around really well. This is helping him build lots of leg strength. When he is on the tile in the kitchen he gets that thing up to a run. All the poor doggies and any bare feet better watch out or else he will run them right over. I will tell you from personal experience that it hurts.

Zane also really loves his Johnny Jumper. He can get in there and amuse himself for quite a while. He is right at eye level with the dogs, so he giggles and laughs as they go by. He loves his little four-legged sisters and cousins.

The latest milestone we are happy to announce is that he can sit on his own. Yeah!! He is learning so quickly. He still has those moments when his huge head gets too heavy and he does a face plant. Although for the most part, he is working well on his balance. Also there are times that he will be sitting there and he will rock forward onto his elbows and knees. So maybe soon he will pick up the concept of crawling.

Zane is growing so fast!! It sorta makes me sad. I have already had to pack away a few boxes of clothes and things that he has grown out of. I am excited to experience all the new and exciting things with him, yet the reality that my first little boy isn't going to be small forever is starting to set in. Sometimes it is so easy to get overwhelmed by life that I forget to savor the moment. I am really going to try to make that a focus in our lives. We love him so much and he has been such a blessing to our lives and our marriage. I can not thank God enough for sending Zane to our family.

All Banged Up!!!

Wow!! It has been a while since I have written. Things have been a little crazy lately. Not sure if everyone has heard, but Nadine and I got in an accident last month. May 21st. to be exact. No, Zane was not in the car!! Thank heavens and thanks to Grandma. She was home and insisted that she watch him. I am so glad she did. I was already a mess with Nadine's bleeding forehead. Let alone if Zane was in the car I am sure I would have totally lost it!!

Now for the story!! Nadine and I were out and she didn't feel like driving. So I was driving her car. (I am sure she will think twice before doing that again.. he he!) Anyway, we were going through an intersection and all of the sudden traffic just came to a complete stop. Considering that we were following a big semi truck, and we were in Nadine's tiny little car, I must admit in that split second I could have sworn we were going to go right up under that truck. Nadine and I glanced at each other in that split second that we realized there was no way we were going to stop in time. Once we impacted I remember thinking that I was so happy we didn't break the windshield then I look behind and see the guy behind us screeching to come to a stop. I remember thinking oh please don't hit us, it will only make things worst. Luckily she came about an inch from our bumper. Then I looked over and Nadine's head was bleeding like crazy! I flipped out. (to say the least) She then proceeds to try and calm me... by saying head wounds just bleed a lot it's ok. Call Mom because we are not driving away from this. Needless to say her car was totaled. Her head was bleeding and I felt awful!! Thankfully everything turned out the best it could. We were both safe and only ended up with lots of bumps and bruises. She got 17 stitches and I had an air cast on my ankle. I sprained it pretty badly.

Lots of people stopped to help and were witness to what happened. It wasn't until after the accident, we found out some idiot in front of the two semi trucks decided to slam on his breaks and reverse in on coming traffic. Who knows what possessed him to do that. But after everything the cop didn't give me a ticket, and he told us that they found the car that caused the whole accident. God was really watching out for us that day! Things really could have turned out worse.

This is Nadine looking sexier than ever after the accident and right before we went to the ER to get checked out.

Nadine's nasty looking stitches, just a few days after the accident. It is looking much better now I promise. ;)

Since then, we are doing well. Nadine's head has healed up nicely. I know it's not the excitement Nadine and mom wanted to come home from their Ireland trip too. Speaking of that trip, Mom brought back the viral black pelage to our home. We have all taken or share of being sick for a little over a week. First mom gave it to Nadine, then Jaime, than Zane and me, and it cycled out of the house with Dad. So now everyone has recovered from the accident and the sickness, and we are all doing great!!

My Mother's Day

This was a really nice day for me. I had a lot of fun spending quality time with my family. Mandy and Nathan were able to come over and have dinner with us. Then we went to Grandma's house and spent some time with all our family there.

Jaime really tried hard to make this a special day for me. He is so great! I really appreciate all he does. Last year I made such a huge deal about how I was gonna be a future mother of his children and how I was already a mother to his doggies, so I couldn't believe he didn't get me a card or at least wish me a happy mother's day. He he! poor guy, little did we know I was just barely pregnant and my emotions were running wild. Looking back I probably shouldn't have let it bother me so much. I guess I just let my female emotions get the best of me.

So this year while I was at work on Saturday night, he asked my mom to watch Zane so he could go get a card. He told her how he didn't want to repeat last year....smart man ;-) He got me a beautiful card and also a real cute one from Zane, and the girls (Maddy and Grizzy). He left it by my bedside so that when I got home a little after midnight and got to bed the first thing I would see were my cards. Then the next morning he came to church with me and Zane. It was really nice to have the help with Zane, so I could relax and listen. He doen't know what a great gift that was for me. Then Jaime cooked his famous ribs for dinner. Yummy!! One of my favorite meals that he makes. It was so great. We all got to and around the table and chit chat together. One of my favorite things to do.

While we were talking Zane started getting a little fussy, so grandma picked him up to hold him. Zane has been experiencing a lot of new flavors lately, so Grandma and Daddy got the idea to let him try Daddy's ribs. It was cute so we got a camera!!

Zane has started teething so he loved chewing on the bones.

Afterwards we teased that he liked them so much that it was finger lickin' good. Dang he is so cute!!

Thanks so much everyone!! I had a fabulous first Mother's Day. A special thanks to Jaime for always doing what he can to make me happy. Also thanks for sharing this wonderful gift of parenthood with me. You are a Faboulous Daddy and that just makes me want so strive hard to continue being the best Mommy I can be. I love my family!!

Happy Mother's Day

I just wanted to wish all "moms" a Happy Mather's Day!! I don't believe that you have to have given birth to mother something or someone. So I hope all "moms" took time out for themselves and reflected on what's important to them on this special day.

I have a REALLY great mother and want her to know how much I love her. She has taught me so much in life. Sometimes I may not have been ready to listen, but eventually I learned. She has always been patient with me and tried to understand me. I know I didn't always make it easy. These last few years have really helped us form a lasting friendship. She is one of my best friends. In he past, she was the last person I would go to for advice. Now she is one of the first people I confide in.

Now being a mother myself I have started to understand my mom on a whole new level. Things I never understood or couldn't quite comprehend have started to make sense. I am so thankful to her for just loving me for who I am and helping to mold me into the woman, wife, and mother I have become. Thanks MOM!! You are so special! I love you!!

I am not sure if very many people know, but I love poetry and used to write all the time. I am working on getting back into the habit, but would like to share a few poems I have written about my mother.

"Mommy and Me"

You gave me life
one summer's day,
and cared for me
in your gentle way.

You taught me it all
from A to Z,
but best of all
you believed in me.

You said I am special,
one of a kind.
I seldom thanked you
but you didn't mind.

You opened me up
and tore down my wall.
You're the only one
that knew me at all.

You've been there for me
my whole life through.
So, in my own way
I am saying thank you!!

"My Mother"

She could've been anything that she pondered.
Sure, there were some days that she sat and wondered.
Had she made the right choices or should she have chosen another?
For she had decided to be a mother.

She taught me it all from tying my shoes,
to being a young woman of truths.
She never could have loved me any less.
All she dreamed for was my happiness.

And while growing up she was always here,
to dry away the tears and protect me from my fears.
After a hard day, she thought her beauty had faded,
but yet this made her more highly rated.

She may have missed the spotlight in her days,
but I am sure glad she chose to be this way!
MY MOM!!

4 Months and Growing

This past Monday (5/5/08), was Zane's 4 month birthday. He is getting so big and doing so much. We went to his check up and found out that his is now 26 and 1/4 inches long (90th percentile for his age). He is 15 pounds 8 ounces (40th-50th percentile for his age). Man he is growing up so quick, it seems like just yesterday when I held him in my arms for the first time.

At his check up they said he looks great and seems to be really strong. They said a lot of this has to do with all the tummy time and work we have been doing with him. He is able to roll over from his belly to his back really well. Does it all the time! From the back to the belly is a little tougher, but he's accomplished it a few times. He can't sit up on his own yet, but he tries to do a sit up all the time. He is talking and cooing like crazy. Sometimes we just sit and have a whole conversation in baby talk. I have so much fun with him.

A funny memory from the doctor visit: We got back to the room and were waiting for the nurse. Zane just woke up from a nap and I was getting him out of his car seat. He was in such a great mood so he started smiling and cooing like crazy. We were playing on the doctor's table when the nurse walks in. (Zane is a total flirt with the lady's. He totally hams it up, smiles, and makes all kinds of noises.) When the nurse comes to the table she says, "Hi little guy." Zane looks right at her, smiles, and says, "Aye!" (Which sounds a little like Hi. Although it is just one of his little coo words.) The nurse looks over at me in total shock and says, " OH my GOSH!! He just said Hi to me." I just laughed. Then I told her it was just one of the things he says when he chitty chats. She still swears he said his first word. hehe!! I couldn't bear to break her heart any further, so I just laughed.

Then the poor little guy had to get his shots. He did really well at first, but by the time she stuck him with he second shot he had realized what she was doing and wanted to let her know he didn't like it. He screamed like crazy. So heartbreaking for me to watch, just glad it was quick and then I could love on him and make him feel better.

It was a rather eventful day. After the shots we had to run errands. We stopped by Aunt Rachel's house and then to Petsmart to get something for Auntie Nadine. While at Petsmart we saw some really cute outfits to put on the girls. They were on sale for like $2, so mommy couldn't resist. Zane LOVES to sit in his walker and stare at the doggies. Although he loves them all, Grizzy is his favorite to look at she always seems to catch his eye. It is adorable. Anyway I thought it would be a fun little way to occupy our afternoon to keep him mind off his sore legs. Here is how the pics turned out.

Maddy got a little summer dress that looked like a picnic table cloth and had little ants on it. She was a pretty good sport about it. She didn't try to take it off. (Amazing)

Grizzy got a little T-shirt that has a fire hydrant with hearts coming out. She immediately took cover in her Daddy's arms and begged to take if off. She was pulling and scratching at it and whining. We let her take it off.

All and all, aside from the actual shots, it ended up being a great day!

Family Photos 2008

As promised earlier, here are some of the family photos that we took this year.

This one is my favorite of Daddy and his girls.

A good one of Mama and the gals.

This is a good one of just the boys. Of course, my two boys are the cutiest. hehe!! I might be a little bias. Aren't Zane's blue eyes so handsome?

These are some of the best of me and my new family! I love Zane's smile, and how tender and loving Jaime looks when he is kissing his son.

This is the best of the whole family!

Our Anniversary

Jaime and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary this weekend. It is so hard to believe that it has already been two years. When I look back so much has happened, yet time just seems to fly by so quickly.

To celebrate, we decided to spend some alone time for our anniversary and rented a hotel room for the evening. We got to hang out and watch movies uninterupted, eat a hot meal, and sleep in. It was a really nice time. It was also really hard for us. Our first night away from our little guy. Daddy had to keep looking at Zane's pictures on his phone. It was really cute. I have to admit I had a tough time with it too. Althought we worried about Zane a lot, we still managed to enjoy some romance in the relationship. After two years and a baby, we still feel the same way about one another, not bad for a guy that when I met him swore he wasn't getting married. :-)

I look forward to many more years to come. Jaime always seems to make life exciting and fun. I can't wait to see what is in store for us.

Family Picture Day

Today we all went to get family pictures. An experience I could wait another 4 or 5 years before we do it again. :) The emotions are always running high in a family of all women. He he! Once we all got there, calmed down, and started to take the photos it turned out to be a great time. I am really excited to see how those turn out. (I will be sure to post those when we get them.) After we got done, we went back to Mandy's house and hung out. She made us all dinner and we played games as a family. It was good times.

Zane was really exhausted after the long day, he passed out in Grandpa's arms while we played.

Then when we got home and Daddy and Zane sat down to rest and had zonked out in seconds. It was a great photo opportunity.
